significant animal brutality and death in the second half of this chapter, i skipped thru most of it

extremely intriguing and captivating writing. i feel very much taken in a journey. tho i stopped last night in the middle of a chapter and now i cant remember who exactly this character is in relation to the plot LOL

i am very much enjoying this, the satire of magical pta and mom struggles is really enjoyable.
im unsure if i like her husband daniel? he’s seemed pretty good overall but he’s not a super fleshed out character

i forgot how early nezha is lost like why did i think that was after golyn niis

just finished part 1 and calling that 1/3 of the book cause this audiobook is all 3 combined and i’m not doing the math lol

not even slightly shocked by that death. everything about this is so predictable and obvious. like i’ve read this exact plot a hundred times

okay they were voting on something else but still nothing makes sense

also why tf did hassan try to melt a lot with fire knowing full well that it would work. like that wasn’t dramatic or high tension like it was presented. it was just idiotic?

how is viceroy a hereditary position and also something they’re voting over at the same time.

and another thing—

from the start poppy has positioned herself as a smart person but the basu is using “educating” her as the primary means of delivering world building information. so like.. no i don’t believe that poppy is smart. she actually looks really dumb.

also her play for vicerine is so impractical and the world, as its been explained to us, would just up not accept her. even if it’s birthright.

poppy: i’m the most qualified person to be viceroy and it’s my birthright!
poppy not a full minute later: no, i don’t know why the two biggest political groups don’t like each other, please explain it to me!

it’s literally jus to spoon feed the readers information but it makes her look so stupid and gives the reader nothing actually thanks

the review that made me pick this up said there was no romance and i’m really starting to wonder if that is true cause every trope is lined up perfectly in place

i fear this is just mid, poppy is pretty dumb and the plot feels really predictable

kinda crazy she didn’t consider that richard would just want her for her fathers position? like that’s wildly obvious 😅
