i feel like this needs to be a “binge in one day” kinda book LOL
i stopped with like 1.5hrs left yesterday even tho i was so deeply immersed in it. and now im like scared to pick it back up because was i really that down with cannibalism?? HAHAHA help

is everyone gonna agree to kill and eat sloans husband? that would be a great plot move

i def misunderstood at the beginning of the book. lowe was a first born given up. not that he gave up a first born LOL i was like damn that’s gonna be a big hurdle to overcome for a character

okay we are off to a strong start im very intrigued! cassandra's backstory is just mysterious enough to give suspense but also just clear enough to make her actions logical. im very curious how lowe's story will develop and what role hes going to play

giving summers a second shot after the let down that the city of stardust was... ii love her writing she just did NOT stick that landing. so hoping for better this time!

i feel like i’ve had chills for the last hour listening to this. harrow plays with time in a way no one else ever could

whenever i see the increasingly alarming news, i find myself hoping that history remembers what happened. but then there’s this book that’s showing (in a fantastical way ofc) that history can be edited and forgotten when it’s most convenient for the propaganda.
it reminds me that it’s important for the people to remember and to question the history that authority figures feed you.

that romantic development was obvious cause it fit the trope lee is going for but out of nowhere based on the on page interactions between those two characters
also the age gap here is definitely minor-adult but i guess that wasn’t the age of consent for the place period.. still not comfy with that tbh

this magic system is written to fit the story and world. rather than the world being written within the constraints of a defined magic system.
as the reader, it makes me feel very discombobulated because there’s some new rule or exception with the magic that’s known or some entirely new magic. and all of this is existing in a world that “doesn’t” know about magic? it’s just not believable

i’ve been moving slowly thru this one but enjoying it still.
tho i have to say.. the comp to tpw is doing it a MASSIVE disservice… if it’s really jsut for the shaman related magic and angry fire girl, they really missed the whole point of tpw and why readers love it.

yes i’m rereading this and it’s been just under a year since my first read LOL

this might be my first marie lu book? i’ll have to check…
im extremely intrigued and i like the pacing and world building we’re getting so far! i’m sensing some star crossed lovers in different societies… (no i did not read the blurb so idk if that is known lol)

i really wanted to fall for this book but i’ve had no urge to pick it back up :/ maybe i’ll come back to it one day

i still kinda have no idea whats going on but im okay with that!

i only understand a fraction of what is going on but i’m in love with this narrator so it’s fine

gifted this audiobook for my birthday hehehe~~
enjoying it so far! the world structure with sects and competing for the throne leads to lots of interesting political intrigue. i also am liking the main pov cause she’s universally disliked but kinda just a nerd who is a commoner and made one decision that people didn’t like (which i think was an understandable decision lol)

okay now it’s flipped lol idc much about starling’s story and im obsessed with dusk’s storyline

the prologue really had me curious and then we went into dusk’s story and i’ve had a bit of a hard time getting captivated by it? so it’s been slow going.. im also in a bit of a slump so maybe it’s that lol

also this final battle has me on the edge of my seat.. fr we waited like 3,000 pages for this and it was so worth it!!
