Im loving the use of italics to break up settings/ point of view changes (instead of titled chapters), feels more immersive in that way.

I am loving this read. About 1/3-1/2 way through I was surprised by setting and surrounding story change that happened there. I needed that. I also LOVE the incorporation of African American history that was kept out of my public school's teaching priorities. As a mixed kid, this book hit home with me.

I put off reading this book for so long because I really thought it was BFG- Roald Dahl style fiction. I picked this up two days ago and its my new morning read. I love a psychological/spiritual fiction. This definitely is something I shouldve read a long time ago and Im glad Im reading now (taking a break from the non-fiction).

Definitely enjoying the way this is written, mixing first-person and third-person storytelling.

I had to note that I wish the author had used the term “Indians” less and “Natives” more. Im going to continue reading because I do feel there is lots to learn from it, but the language used definitely makes me wary.
