I've cried four times already. Really beautiful. Very like Gilead by Marilynne Robinson in tone.

I really like this

I am loving this.

The writing is mediocre, I didn't get into it until 50% but now I'm too far in to stop reading. I'm really glad this didn't win the vote in book club.

Such good fun

Such simple prose. Lovely, present and thoughtful.

I don't know, it's not amazingly written. I might put this one down. At its best it reminds me of All the Light We Cannot See.

My 9yo is losing steam on this series but I still love it. I think this might be our last book even though there are 3 or 4 more books 😭

"I always worked until I had something done and I always stopped when I knew what was going to happen next."

Delightful in the same way as Bertie Wooster and Lord Peter Wimsey.

Re-reading this. So relevant and good.

Dragons!

I'd forgotten how pleasant Julian Barnes is to read.

I really like her writing. It's just a series of quite abstract poetic observations said by different characters and held together by the briefest mention of a plot.

My first Rachel Cusk book. I love her detached writing. It's so pared back. such a relief from what goes on in my own head.

I really like her voice. She's an observer. Her own emotions are quiet, distant. She's merciless in her assessment of her characters.

Really satisfying as this book follows characters that we met in book 2 and happens at the same time as book 3.

So sweet
