“Finally, he humbly asked God for the strength to bear his hungry heart, the heaviest weight of all to bear.”

Damn… this chapter and the last chapter were hard to sit through. They beautifully showcased depression and grief. This chapter was definitely my fav so far.

Ugh the suspense is killing me!!!! It’s like you have a feeling what happened to Monday but you just want to have that solid proof. Claudia is too cute too :(

The pacing on this chapter I’m on is drastically different from the rest of this book–even changing from third perspective to first. Obviously there’s a reason and an emphasis on Frank this chapter so far. Idk how I feel about it yet.

Ugh it’s so good so far!! It’s the first YA book I’ve genuinely enjoyed in a while. The time skips each chapter feels choppy, but it fits the suspenseful attitude of the story.

Maybe Frank is ok, I just feel conflicted…. Definitely love Zoe and Cleo. I loved chapter 5. Mellors did such a good job encapsulating experiencing girlhood as a teen being around older women. But maybe I’m also projecting

The slow burn is KILLING ME!!!!

Frank was super charming at first but now I’m not really sure… he kind of seems like an ass. Also Cleo is kind of a shallow friend

Need someone to yearn for me the way Mr. Darcy yearns for Elizabeth😫

Really interesting so far. It’s similar to Lolita and American Psycho in the way of commentating on certain men in society. It seems like Jeffery Dahmer and Ed Gein might be big inspirations in creating Andrew Compton? Either way, I love the writing style as well as the complexity of Compton. I’m excited to read more.

So good!! I love hooks but I wasn’t sure about this one when I first picked it up at the book store. I’ve never heard of it so I was hesitant on buying it at first, but I’m so glad I did!! It ties perfectly with another book I read from her, Salvation: Black People and Love. I’m already two chapters deep!!

It’s interesting so far. The English translation is just really corny😭 it sounds like an anime dub

Bruh I hate Carter😐
