Notes:
Rental car died in driveway. MC now driving the Aunt's old vehicle. Are we still paying on the rental car? Not a single phone call has been made about returning it. That annoys me.

Murder has happened. MC potential love interest was at the mine. But now MC and love interest are having an interaction over a horse. And she mentioned the death and he says yes I know I'm sorry I didn't call. What? You were there.

Meh. The first book was soooooo good. This was more of a 100 page short story. Which spent a lot of time retelling the first story. I skimmed it. Don’t feel the need to pursue the series. Such a shame.

Such a good series! Well written! Good character development and a definite sense of “film noir” to the stories.

Meh. I thought this sounded like it would be good. Solid pass on the rest of the series.

Enjoying this book but I will not listen to the audio next time. Was not a fan of the voice actor.

Long fan of Mercy and I can’t believe it took me this long to start this series. Well done.

Such a sad story. Great read though!

This series is really great. The friendship between the main three characters is wonderful. And how awesome to have the protagonist be in her 40’s!

Dnf. Really loved this series when I first began it but it has unfortunately imploded. In the beginning the character development was so on point. Now it’s just falling apart left and right and I found that I no longer care about any of these characters nor finishing this book.

I like the characters in this series but I didn’t enjoy the second book ad much as the first.

I don’t know that I’m enjoying this book. There are a lot of errors that I keep coming across. One is the use of the word stakeout in Victorian England. I looked up the etymology of the word and it was not used until 1945.

I don’t know that I’m enjoying this book or that I will finish it. And I’ve come across yet another thing that is driving me nuts about the writing. The use of the word stake out. Which made me think to myself “were they using this word in Victorian England?“ It made me want to look up the entomology of the word and it’s usage. As it turns out it wasn’t used until 1945.
