“Notes on ‘Camp’” is quite possibly the best pieces of non-fiction I’ve ever read. Sontag is so articulate and thorough with her analysis of this cultural and aesthetic phenomenon, and as a lover of all things Camp, it’s such a treat to have this essay which vocalises all its wonderful complexities.

“when you’ve lived the way I have, surrounded by evil, isn’t there some slight advantage in death?”

This is so much better than Mother Courage.
