The part where I said “holy shit”!

If Ilona Andrews blurbs it, I'm gonna read it!

I'm struggling with this one. There are so many references to things that are never explained in the book that it's driving me crazy. This is supposed to be fantastical and whimsical but I'm simply confused.

Definitely don't try to read this book without reading her Hart family series. There's a massive plot dump about something that happens in the Hart series that directly reflects the characters here. It made absolutely no sense to me until I looked up the other series. Putting this one on hold for now...

Really struggling with this despite the fact that I like the characters and the magic. I can't figure out why I'm not racing through this!

Re-read before the big finale. Love this series!

Just started and I only want to flip to the end to see if he makes it off Mars. I never want to do that!!

Not sure what all the fuss is here. Sure it reminds me of Gone Girl but that's because I don't like any of the characters and just want to get to the end and find out what happened.

Unfortunately I think this book is breaking my streak of fantastic reading. I don't particularly like Mia yet and haven't figured Ansel out so it's becoming a chore to keep going.

Getting this ARC at BookCon made my day!

This book is giving me stress headaches. I keep having to put it down since it's so relentlessly brutal. Then I pick it right up again since I have to see what comes next. Can the good guys finally catch a break???

Mother's Day present to myself!

I'm interested in the story but the world building includes a language that is dense and confusing. Every official name or title, ceremonial act, etc are this new language and since Maia is now Emperor it seems every other word is a title I have to look up in the cheat sheet in the back. Rather than getting into the plot this is pulling me out of it. With six other books waiting I'm putting this aside for now.

I both want to stop reading and can't put it down. Incredibly compelling read.

It pains me to say it but I'm not liking this nearly as much as Night of a Thousand Stars. The animosity between the two leads is really off putting compared to the crackling chemistry of Poppy and Sebastian.

Not sure why I'm still reading this. I really, really don't like Juliette at this point.

Trying again now that I don't have any higher priority books waiting in the wings.

I know this book has a ton of buzz but I'm struggling to get into it.

A couple chapters in and I'm completely hooked!

This book is terrifying. Not in a traditional horror sense but in a "my god, what if this happened" sense. Part of me wants to look away it and put it down the other part can't stop turning pages fast enough.

YES!!!! Bracing myself for the inevitable adrenaline rush.

I've been anxious to finally start this but so far it's been slow going. Not quite clicking like I expected. Kind of surprised.

Oh my God. I just accidentally started a series with 20+ books in it! Dammit!
