I don't know what to say other than that this is really worth the work to understand

I love the way that Roy fleshed out each character. Regardless of generation their stories come to life so understandably that it makes it very clear how the family' dynamics have become the way they are.

Reading this book the only thing I've been thinking about is the time when the man who groomed me looked at me with guilt in his face and said he was a bad man. I remember being incredibly confused and consoling him.

Her ability to articulate the true experience it is to be in this dynamic is haunting. Only those who have gone through it can really understand. So many lines that hit the nail on the head, it's taking me back and sadly, honestly, vulnerably I love/hate it

Wowowowow I'm going to fly through this. How is it so much like the movie but so not.. I'm thrilled
