Descartes sometimes sounds like a crackhead ngl

When I decided i wanted to read harder books this year this was NOT what I meant

Just finished Chapter 1 and really enjoyed it.

I've realized recently I'm a terrible reader- this one chapter took ridiculously long to read but that's probably because I was annotating a bit too much at first.

Tons of allusions that I'm missing or feel like I'm missing so this book has me googling every few lines like a mad man.

Too few characters left to talk about judge here but I liked his introduction.

Read 5 chapters then started rereading Steel Ball Run. Still pretty good tho

Got a 12 hour layover then a 9 hour flight 🙏🙏

I think it’s really interesting how plainly Joyce writes his characters and short stories but still gets to interesting themes. Also turning into a big sucker for joycean epiphanies…when I understand them.

Second Semester is not second semester-ing. I'm so busy and unable to read.

That being said, This book has been a really fun read and offers a different perspective of free will that I will probably read more into after this book.

Vagabond adapted this man so well.

Honestly it’s dragging on a tad bit but it’s interesting

Too many pages on how Vincent Van Gogh wanted to be a pastor and also sucked at art before he found painting

Yozo is a genuinely terrible character and he ruins his own life.

It’s not even he plays a character that upsets me, it’s that the character he plays continues to hurt people that infuriates me constantly

I listened to the author describe this book as a “Rorschach test” that questions readers about whether love is worth it. I think that’s accurate.

Rules for Taboo was goofy, and made me realize how gimmicky these are because it was the only short story that missed for me. I still enjoyed it but it isn’t sticking with me like some of the others

The first short story is so absurd and poignant I love it
