So far this is absolutely amazing. Not only did I find the words of E.H. Gombrich incredibly exciting in the introduction, but the way this book makes art history accessible without the excessive use of terms is delightful.

Back at reading to distract myself. The first part is a very interesting summary of living conditions in England in the 16th/17th century with notes on medicinal practices, common threats to life etc, the part i’m on now discusses pre-reformation Christianity and it’s rituals/‘healing’ practices. Very interesting :)
