I have been looking forward to this sequel!

So far - not bad, not bad at all.

Very rushed. Things happen fast and not in a good way.

It feels like the main character never stops to think through any of her decisions and at the slightest glimmer of reason it is thrown away with a hasty explanation. She doesn't even persistently keep asking questions to try and gett some answers. it's always "there's more going on here than you know" but never an explanation.

It's annoying.

Why has it taken me so long to start reading this book? Unique magic, already interesting characters and plot, and the emphasis. On. Colors!

(I also playing the cosmer game "where is Hoid". So excited to see how he shows up in the story.)

I had my suspicions after three pages and it's confirmed -Hoid is the narrator of the story! I repeat: HOID is the NARRATOR of the story! To all aware of the cosmere, this is not a freaking drill!

somewhat intriguing plot, the king is contradictory, and it seems to be a case where the heroine are losing brain capacity because of a hot, sexy guy.

I am convinced that the audiobook will be hysterically entertaining.

Ehh... it feels so slow - a lot of words with little action. Most of what's happening appears flat and insignificant. And the main relationship, you know, between the main character and the shadow king (what the book is named after!), yeah... didn't feel anything, not a one single thing. I haven't
yearn for for their romance. I more question why they should be together.

I found the book with the cover that does NOT make it look like a cheap romance with no character. I am not having high expectations, but I find myself keep reading it sooooo... not terrible?

people blame the main character for everything that happens. they really can't have any empathy for her.

is it good? is it decent? too early to say.

Information dump! I know it's the first book in the series, I know it has a lot to establish, but sorry, it's too much, too fast. It's hard to keep track.

This book is raw, vulgar and frank. It has shadows crawling in it, a present darkness, some lingering sense of wrongness in the story.

It has taken my breath away. Maybe the book wants me to suffocate - to drown.
