Started reading this in February. Girl with pretty hair facing away from me in ballgown...and it's written by the Selection series' author? Yeah, I'm reading it.

This is going to take me two years to finish, just you wait.

My professor told us to read the Introduction to this book which, after reading 7 chapters of another book, I thought would be easy. The introduction was 50 pagessssssss. But it was lovely. But it was 50 pages. But it was great.

This book has brought me to *almost* tears several times. As a strict historical fiction lover, this contemporary novel is WRECKING ME.

Pg 369 “The horizon met the sea in a defined line. A painter could not have painted so clear a sky. There was not a speck upon it. Yet it was blowing great guns from the north-west. When you can see a cloud to windward, you feel that there is a place for the wind to come from; but here it seemed to come from nowhere.”

I. LOVE. SAILING. OH. MY. GOSH. “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Horatio Hornblower” have ruined me.

The Libby app finally gave this book back to meeee. It said “available soon” for a whole week 😂

I left off on page 123 back in 2019 and I cannot believe how long it’s been!! I started reading it to my mom and we loved it but then the pandemic happened and I went off to college and yada yada now we’re back!

I had to return this to the electronic library and now the hold is 3 weeks *whips and nay-nays sadly*

Pretty sure I started reading this on May 27th. I dunno, it’s a blur, I’m reading a couple of my friend’s unpublished books so I’m in the middle of so many 😂

One of if not my FAVORITE narrators for a book series. This woman took NOTES while a sea serpent was attacking her ship. I love her.

This. Book. Is. Adorable.

The fact that the ruler of one of the African-inspired nations has leg braces and I’m almost positive the author of this book has read The Sundiata makes me happy 😭😭

This turned into “Sherlock with dragons” real fast

The last chapter was about resting and the Sabbath and I was reading it at 2am. I promptly decided to go to sleep instead of finishing the chapter. An inspiration.

I also started reading this one again after writing a research paper on the first few chapters. His quotes about memory are awesome but I almost fell asleep on the ✈️

Obsessed with this book. Am annoyed that I’m currently reading two books with orange covers and I feel like Christopher would tell me that it’s okay.

I think I’m about halfway through the audiobook. Kind of disappointed by the amount of women-on-women hate in this book, not gonna lie.
