Spent like 70% of today’s collected flights reading through all these chapters, had to stop myself so i have reading material for the coming week at least, if not the flights home

Ha, the novella I just read an hour ago got referenced. Serendipitous

So far this book is pretty much crack for everyone who had a crush on Milo in Atlantis - I feel like Kuang is just slutting him out for us to slobber over through Peter

Fuck, this book is sexy

«Wow,» said Peter. «I think we’ve been told to fuck off.»

An unemployed illustrator…. this is getting a bit too personal………

Got me again ;-;
Maybe I’ve inherited the sorrows of sacrifices mothers make by mine, cause this one also hit hard

I was thinking I’d probably dismiss this book a little bit for being too ‘hopecore’ like a true negative nancy, but the second story has made me CRY so maybe Ms. Aoyama wins this time

Holy shit the Cat-themed bookstore with in-house cats is actually real ! ‘Cats Now Books’ is actually Cats Meow Books if my Google proficiency holds true. Amazing

This has to be the most lively translated Japanese book I’ve read so far - or the amount of personality the author writes shines so bright it breaks through the English translation curse

I can tell this book is gonna hit where it hurts, I’m gonna feel like a child getting consoled by their fave Grandma during this read

Haven’t seen the word ‘idjit’ since my Supernatural days oml

No, Angus, please do not go fishing, not here

«You’re kind. But I belong here. I would be lost if I could not go down to the lake and confess my sins.»
«Perhaps it is only in dreams that I am sinning.»
I saw her to her room, and she seemed to float through the door as if the earth could no longer quite hold her.

Love anything that evokes Virginia Woolf

The horse has been given equally as much personality as the people so far and that is a very promising sign

now what did i say

god i hate these men, LEAVE HER ALONE

The exciting part of this story is more a ‘will they get away with it’ rather than whodunnit, but I suppose that’s upcoming

Must be a translation thing but I don’t like the way «Um.» is used… I feel like for some of these a «Hm.» would be more natural and accurate??

we’re gonna switch to a police pov after alla that? Now we’re cooking! It’s like playing hide and seek

You’ll never believe it, but there’s been a murder!

But there has to be more to it… indeed🧐

For the sake of this poor girl, I hope it turns out to have been the mother tbh; her motive would be the most noble one… I don’t trust any of these men

Ewww the men are already creepy and openly admitting to it too

Wrote ‘HA’, ‘LMFAO’ and ‘lol’ all on one page spread

And Milan Kundera mentioned!!!!

Every time I see a stunning book cover and I open the goodreads to see reviews revealing the content to be absolutely boring and/or plain bad, this flower loses a petal😔

«As Sartre wrote in response to Hiroshima, humanity had now gained the power to wipe itself out, and must decide every single day that it wanted to live.»

Sarah Bakewell, you are so funny

the growing urge to make House of Leaves my next read… i feel like the sims medieval ‘blinded by hubris’ debuff has been placed upon me
