I got to part 2 and taking a break until my brain is able to handle it again!

Close reading again so I might finally write up thoughts!

For minute, I was worried there would be no Magrat!

Only reading this because Husband read it recently so we can discuss!I'm 2 chapters in and already the writing is style is irritating me.

1 hour and half in and nothing has happened except for a lot of exposition dumping exclusively through dialogue. Like, this is 99% dialogue!

When one of the main protagonist is female, I wish audiobook producers would hire narrators that can do decent feminine voices - or have them not even try! Lila sounds intermittently like an annoying whiney child or a fish wife. I always imagined her voice as more dry than this performance.

Not even the incredible Jennifer Hale can save this... I am so bored, this book is far too long, the plot feels nonexistent and Kira is a mess of a character. I don't think I can push on, unless I use it as a sleep aid...

I am so bored of this book. And I think I actually hate New York now.

I've listened to 3 hours of it and I'm really turned off by the flippant attitude of the smug sounding narrator/protagonist. The overt "I'm telling you a story and I'm purposely withholding to be clever" narrative framing is irritating too, and actually kind of a dull.

I actually want this guy to get torn apart by alien creatures...

I waited month for this through BorrowBox but I think it'll have to be a DNF!
