Finally sinking my teeth into this legend. I have it on Kindle and paperback and am annotating light in pencil at first until I decide on the 2 or 3 themed colors I want to highlight with.

I love symbolism, metaphors, personification, unreliable narrator and novels of women on the edge.

This is my first Hazelwood novel, liking it so far, nice little blend of goal driven FMC and smoldering low key dom possible love interest.

Feel like I'm learning about med school, pro althetics while stepping into a fun romance novel that stars power exchange.

Me reading this book thinking, ok cool atmosphere, cool character building but where's the smut..(gets to chapter 5) ohhh there it is. Must say, so far very pleased with how the dark scenes are more Katee Robert Neon God's, then Penelope Douglas' huge fail (for me) Credence. (I could overlook the distant, not blood related family stuff, the age gaps and polyamory but NOT entrapment, predatory garbage)

...modern day cautionary tale mixed with criminal mind episode and rotten.com.... already gagged 2x with the outright grotesque concepts

This chapter. Hard eye roll at the result of the confrontation...it seems stupid to me, stops short of action, unrealistic and considered DNFing . Continuing in hopes that things change but I must say, so far, not my fave freida read.

I've read most of her back list and would say The Inmate, Ward D and Never Lie are lightyears better than this work. Fingers crossed for the last 100pgs

I love the Stephen King , Misery aspect to this but not over the moon for this novel overall. The FMC Tegan is an idiot, and ...without ruining anything...the current villian is annoying, and their enabler aswell, in that the villian let's the enabler know their ridiculous illogical unethical intention and the enabler is just continuously allowing it to happen.

This is a re read for me. I could only get the basic black and white cover edition and recently thrifted a full color version in perfect condition. I'm destined to interject this into my reading lineup Stat lol. Just skinning over it I remember the fun feeling this book gave me the first time. This was the first book I read that came with a Playlist and it just makes me wonder why every book ever hasn't come with one

I love aspects of this story but some of it is meh. I consider myself pagan and between my personal practices and overall research, the witchcraft has alot of basis in genuine practices but sometimes the way it is explained or played out induces eye rolls lol. I do love the historical aspect (takes place in the 1970s) and commentary on women having autonomy of our own bodies
