Also, a good point this brings up is that you have to know when this book is right for you. Meaning if I read this at. 15, when I was a vegetarian and was more reactive to animal mistreatment. Now in my 30s I appreciate the social commentary on every level, the political nods,all the symbolic possibilities in less than 300 pages.

Love peering into the past tomfoolery that was imposed on women so deeply from every aspect of life. #ImAFuckingLady

...whoa...former animal activist here. Studied modern agriculture standards and laws.....hearing those (or more twisted and detached) being applied to human beings BY OTHER HUMAN BEINGS ...truly dystopian terror.

Little bits of it are reminding me of Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, with the Genetically Modified Crackers and Pigoons lol similar universe vibe so far.

I didn't read the blurb , just remember hearing some bookworms who I often agree with, day how interesting this novel was. I started reading......and my God (ha) u hate this woman on a visceral level lol pretentious holier than thou snooty biotch , to say the least. Lol I'm very intrigued to see where things go tits up for little miss perfect. #ThinksHerShitDon'tStink

Well. Alright then. Yup. Body horror. Nature and biology horror. Yup yup. If you like trading books that make you feel like suddenly someone is trying to slide bamb shoots under your finger nails this is a book for you lol

Very nice story and character development that effortlrss mutants into a paragraph or pages of text that give my the absule heeby jeebies so I need to scan to get the jist cuz that itself is alot

Wow I have A LOT to say about this tale. I'll gather my thoughts once I finish and have a full overview.

In the meantime. Whoa. I live in PEI on the coast n have a small island front n centre of my view . An island much like the fictional island in the novel.

And I have high tolerance for EW...worked in childcare so snot poop blood is old news. This book made me burp while reading cuz it triggered my gag reflex.

I didn't know this takes place in the very province where I live!!!!!!!!! So far the reference to places and counties is mixed up (for fictional purposes, aka opening of the book says Lower Montague is in Prince County when that's is the other side of the province. Lower Montague is in Kings County) but the descriptions of the year environment is accurate. And omg the vibes, weird vagrant loose in the woods.yes plz

Finally sinking my teeth into this legend. I have it on Kindle and paperback and am annotating light in pencil at first until I decide on the 2 or 3 themed colors I want to highlight with.

I love symbolism, metaphors, personification, unreliable narrator and novels of women on the edge.

Loving so far. Love the story, drama, supernatural and smut blended beautifully
