All nationalistic sentimentalism aside, it is wild how many tactics Canada innovated in WWI (highly accurate artillery strikes, trench raids) that were later adopted by every nation fighting in WW2.

On another note, reading an O’Connor novel after a Hemingway one is like moving from Dante’s Inferno to Purgatorio.
