The tension that carries over from the cliffhanger in Book 2. O M G! I couldn't put this down until 100 pages in. Real page turner.

The third POV with Griff makes the stakes and drama that much higher.

First of all.. this cover is gorgeous!

Rereading.. as I started reading book 3 and realised i forgot a lot of this story. So back to the drawing board!

I must say.. Mrs Yarros, did you copy this books ideas for Fourth Wing!? I read chapter 1 and seems like some things are quite similiar. Like how this book has the Fourth Order vs Fourth Wing? Hmmm....

So.. we have more POVs in this book. I really dont like it when we get the POV of the man... but i understand why we are getting more POVs.

Also Orbit, please... You're a massive publishing firm, surely you cant miss a spelling error in our FMC's name 80 pages in. Elspeth not Elsepth.. That's like a red flag in the editing world.

Okay well I was nervous starting this book as I wasn't really getting into it. But 100 pages in im quite invested!

Part 1 complete. My brain hurts. Did I mention to send help? I am hoping, fingers crossed, that the literacy becomes less overwhelming. The little snippets into references is a nice touch. R F Kuang is a genius. This is my first attempt at her books and its pretty heavy. Perhaps I should have started with her Poppy War Trilogy first. I will just blame all this on my partner :)

I am already overwhelmed. Send help.

Okay.. our FMC gets stabbed near her hip/belly area and she can walk it off after like a week... Her friend gets stabbed in the stomach and dies instantly. Okkkaaayy...

I feel like there is some inconsistencies.. She gets cut on the wrist deeply.. "swift and deep" and stabbed in the hip but we never talk about her bleeding wrist again? Surely there would be a cause for concern of a deep wrist wound, like potentionally bleeding out? But at least her hip wound was sorted out.

I'm not sure how I'm feeling about this one...

Was the writing in the first book as awful as this one? I just have no attachment whatsoever to the characters. I know its a pre-loved myth but changing the order of events from the original myths to make your plot more enticing just seems so off. Hades wasn't in a relationship with Persephone? The titans are meant to be the good guys all along? Just plot conveniences..

I think my partner just wants me to drown in all the long ass books I own... Seriously! Why did I think it would be fun to allow him to choose what book I read next this year...

Side note... I'm thankful that one of us is forcing me to do it.. cause I know they would just sit on my shelf being neglected..

Aefe is a breath of fresh air in this series. I was getting a lot of Manon vibes from her POV (guessing cause shes an outcast) which was quite nostalgic. I look forward to her viewpoint more than the other two which can get stuffy and old really quick.. I wish Broadbent made their yearning more rewarding.

Chapter Four took a different turn in the story thats for sure. Now im hooked to find out more!

Not vibing with the convenient time jumps as it makes this story fast paced and would have loved to enjoy my time exploring the world building and building of character relationships.

I wish the powers were explained a bit better instead of the gray areas of learning from what the main character knows.

The writing style is okay.. Ny issue could just be jumping from a 5 star favourite to a low 4 star (currently)
