This time around I’m just thinking about all the developmental and attachment bullshit Kyle is struggling with, mirrored by Eric’s imminent career shift, sexual renaissance and the theme of age.

Realizing that most of the complaints about this book regard the broad strokes. Most of the fine detail is perfectly cromulent, even better than most. I quite enjoy the NOLA setting and details, particularly glad to learn about haint blue. Southern decadence, absinthe and beignets? Please.

Rereading, and Parrish is doing work here. While one MCs sister is third trimester pregnant, the other MCs sister approaches a wedding. Meanwhile the couple navigate fear conditioning and objectification in reclaiming their bodies amidst sharp desire for the other. Keen juxtaposition.

Probably the most weed appearances on page in recent memory. Kief even.

Reading JLA series, a familiar FMC profile appears: she’s from the south Atlantic region, has terrible eating habits, uses odd exclamations, has no emotion regulation but is suicidally impulsive with a disregard for authority (often warranted as an outsider with *power*) that nearly makes her TSTL, plus an NLOG vibe or slut shaming, and she probably witnessed a parental death or doesn’t know one or both parents.
