Ming Chen is starting At the Margins: A Life in Biomedical Science, Faith, and Ethical Dilemmas
Note: awful. Jones commits a false dichotomy between the "realistic" position, which knows that we are sinful and prone to sin, and the "idealist" position, which states that we can always do what God requires of us. The former is misconstrued as allowing sin, like murder (abortion). Moreover, Jones, by placing divorce in the former, conflates sinful action and sinful circumstances (i.e. post-Fall).

Good so far. The sheer number of exercises and the corresponding answers on the same page as the exercises helps a lot.

Finished Calvin's commentary on Trent and reading through his Adultero-German Interim now - good stuff but I'll inevitably forget a lot of it, particularly given that some areas are somewhat dense.

Quick note so I remember. Re. Sadolet's letter: a lot of fluff, a somewhat clear presentation of the Papist view on justification, obvious caricature of sola fide as precluding works (including works post-justification) entirely. Some mention of continuity with the early church.

Chapter 2 finished.

Was not as hard to read as the first chapter, but would be interested in how effective reading on a train is for information retention.

Chapter one : pretty good so far, though the writing style is hard to follow. Esolen covers Greek politics, philosophy, and their view of natural law, etc. The parts highlighted demonstrate common grace, which the author could have mentioned.

Ming Chen is 35% done with Crimes Against Logic: Exposing the Bogus Arguments of Politicians, Priests, Journalists, and Other Serial Offenders
Good, though theologically shallow. For a writer of a book on logic, the author seems to fail to understand the genuine Christian conception of "faith", "mystery", "paradox", etc.
