loving barbara kingsolver’s voice in this!! Demon’s narrative is so compelling, i am loving the cadence as well as just tone of the story being told. Demon is so likable as well, i just feel for him. also thoroughly enjoying his candor- he’s so funny!! 🙂

ok done w “my life”. i was so confused, there were so many (intentional) contradictions but the aliases being used confused me so much up until like a third of the way. i had no idea ben/andrew was so prideful and strong-willed - wildly contrast his shy and myopic demeanor as well as helen’s personality written in “bonds”

just finished “bonds”. jaw-dropping ending, ready to read benjamin’s pov

really liking it so far, the beginning really only had me hooked because of Diaz’s beautiful employment of language. never have i read something so beautifully crafted. however, just got to pg 59 and the authenticity of helen and benjamin’s relationship caught me by surprise and has sprouted an excitement to keep reading 🥹

chapter 9 gave insight into the Adams-Jefferson administration. very tumultuously to say the least 💔 onwards to ch 10 🥸🐎

just finished chapter 8. saddened by my change in opinion of Jefferson as further insight by McCullough had demonstrated to me his faults in character. on the contrary, i am more and more impressed by Adams’ virtue and strength of character. This adherence to virtue excites me for the presidency that is to come 🐶🇺🇸🌅😇🐎

teddy roosevelt jr.’s story is fascinating!!

just finished chapter 1. really animated insight into Eisenhower’s thoughts and feelings at the end of the chapter, left me feeling anxious to see how they land in ch 2. 🫣😅

just finished part 2! i loved diving into Jefferson and Adams’ relationship, (my old fave and new were besties!!!) the descriptions of france continued to be beautiful and i was in awe of Adam’s’ tenacity and sacrifice for his country in Holland, France, and GB. filled with so much reverence for king!!

just finished the prologue and it was BEAUTIFUL. I’m so excited to start reading 😇🙏🇺🇸🌅

Adam’s finds himself in Holland after being in Paris for the second time. the descriptions of France are beautifully narrated. McCollough also appropriately emphasizes the ardent passions of Adam’s’ heart, demonstrating the urgency which Adam’s conducted himself with!

thoroughly enjoying!! it’s an immersive and engaging read, although i hesitate to pick it up every time i do i can’t put it down!! i’m having so much fun learning about adams’ passionate yet gracious nature. i like that all facets of his personality are described, not just the admirable ones. also enjoying learning about his detailed role within the Continental Congress 🇺🇸😇🙏
