Geez.

The imagery and characterizations thus far walk an odd line between quirky and disaffected. It’s like the author wanted the reader to feel like an average person’s life should come across as completely unbearable.

It’s the kind of thing I can probably admire if it proves intentional.

This book kicks ass so far. Great characters, engaging prose, genuinely feels like a modern day dark fairy tale.

Not to mention, it gets major points thus far for the central relationship. The two leads are both likable, and their ups and downs are super believable.
