have a real issue with early novel excitement but if you are a Rooney-head you will most likely love this

any ernaux qualms gone! i’m missing out on 70% of the french historical/political references but give me memoir give me a domestic writers interior life caught up in the mundane. how tf did she remember half this?

Thank u to the Vinted seller who I lowballed for their pre-release copy… will never again pay £20-30 for a new hardback smh. V much enveloped in this so far! A bit more constructed and expansive in scope than On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, which isn’t necessarily something I favour but Ocean is as tender as ever… 🤞🤞

this is already a fab ride - i love dialogues around misogyny, weight etc. that pair it’s everyday nature/manifestations with actual good critical thought. fattening protagonists, murdered men… this book is kind of hot. would love to find some more literary/classic books that handle topics of food, gender + the body adeptly - i swear sm classic authors ignore its obsessive quality entirely

spring reading affirmations:
- it is okay to depressively start and stop 5 books in the space of a week
- one day i will find all matching covers for the neapolitan quarter in my local charity shop
- reading 10 pages and then falling asleep for 2 hours in the sunshine is a productive afternoon
