I feel obligated to finish this book, but it's a bit of a slog as leisure reading.

Delightfully nerdy without the condescending, mansplainy prose of Ready Player One. Lots of info dumping in the early chapters, so be in a good headspace to absorb game rules.

The audiobook version ends with the epilogue. It suits the medium better, but it's good to know that text additions have such robust reference material built in.

I wish some goddess would point out to Achilles that both the prolonged war in general, and Patroclus' death in particular are the direct result of his actions.

Granted, I wished that the armies had a moment of clarity during a skirmish where they realize that the cause (or excuse?) of all of this war should have been resolved by single combat between Menaleus and Paris, instead of an international war.

Given all the help Poseidon gives the Greeks, no wonder he's pissed at Odysseus' attitude at the beginning of The Odyssey.
