trying hard to finish this before i get consumed by school work

had a bit of a reading rut and starting this as my beach book last week cured me

would have read way more if i wasn't so sleepy atm. i have been waiting for the chance to have the time to read this book for months. so far it has lived up to the great reviews i have heard from my fellow food studies/systems undergrad students. as someone who has also lost their mother to cancer, some of the paragraphs hit reaaaally hard. its helping me feel less alone in my grief. i love this book so far.

wish there was more horace and less old people, but goddamn this book is good

i read the majority of these pages this morning because i fell behind on reading this section for a class. it didn't feel like a punishment though, i couldn't put the book down. this book so far is written beautifully with such tragic stories. the author is really magnificent.
