Re-reading for master’s thesis research and having a blast, I really love this woman

I’m so elated to finally be reading this book, I’ve been saving it as a treat for myself when I was adequately caught up on my Masters work. I’m gripped already from the first few pages and reflecting angrily on the time I was completely infatuated with an Irishman who insisted that Rooney wasn’t really “literature” and that she would be forgotten in a decade or two.

Je relis en français pour m’entraîner pour l’examen de DALF C1. Parfois je regarde la traduction pour vérifier des mots mais en général la language et assez direct que c’est pas nécessaire. Il y a des passages qui sont plus touchant/émouvant en français qu’en traduction, comme les mots elle utilise pour décrire sa grossesse, « voisin de grotesque », « ça », « cette chose-là ».

i don't think i've ever read anything where the writing is, on the sentence level, so similar to my own? he writes very long, descriptive sentences with multiple clauses and lots of commas, but the narrative is clear and linear. i'm really enjoying this so maybe i'm flattering myself but it's bizarre to read someone writing in a voice so similar to mine

This is really good! I AM still actively reading it, I’m just also reading books in English at the same time so that I can alternate between reading in Norwegian and English and give my brain a break. I’m going reallyyy slowly but I like it a lot. I’m on vignette number two now :’)
