this dialogue makes me want to die. “You don’t want to mess with me, Grandma. I’m half your age and I grew up in this gravity. I’ll carry you out of here if I have to.” and i don’t want to even type out the other response

this book is ruining any positive thoughts i had about andy weir. what do you mean your futuristic moon colony doesn’t have a fucking age of consent and they’re fine with a 14 year old girl sleeping with a man that’s in his like mid-20s if i’m remembering correctly? i don’t care if you’re trying to make some melting pot type of moon colony, but it wouldn’t be a fucking free for all on laws and morals.

“My plan was working! I giggled like a little girl. Hey, I’m a girl, so I’m allowed. And besides, no one was watching.” this writing is actually going to make me kill myself. andy weir, what happened to you with this book???

wow i truly don’t remember the characters being so poorly written in the first book. why is every newish character literally an archetype of their role? the “villains” are so obviously bad and this dialogue makes me want to die

so guy who is supposed to be dead, or at least severely injured and was transported to another world is just…. back in his original one?? and has become king with no one remembering who he is?? ok sure

now why are we almost dying in a plane crash??

the amount of descriptive torture and mutilation to the women in this book, including all of the rape being mentioned casually, has me shocked that this is written by a woman. it’s probably just commentary on how little society values women outside of childbirth, but wow i feel sick. 10x worse that this is all coming from a male character who likes to act like he’s above others, despite having a woman in his barn
