Picked it up again since I wanted a quick palate cleaner before starting Part IV of The Idiot. May read a chaper or two

Took a break from studying and read most of Part III in one sitting —and I'm glad I did, because I think that's the only way to go through Hippolyte's speech

Part I was so much fun and cozy, like a big warm hug. Part II much less so, but it really helped highlight how much Dostoyevsky aims to paint every one of his characters as "double-minded" in some way, in comparison to Myshkin's simplicity (simplicity in the sense of being single-minded). Curious how Part III and IV will play out, but it's clear that something big and bad is brewing

I had to force myself through the first few chapters; however I'm now quite fond of it. Super cute, and it's delightful how very real and human the characters are (the main character, at least), in a way much more than in many other novels I've read recently.

Saying I reached "page 284" kinda feels like cheating since this edition has several introductory essays, and I haven't read all of them (yet?), but oh well, who cares

How can one ever be happy while reading Brideshead. My second time around yet it still hurts.
