It's been a while since the third book and I forgot about Spenza's and Sanderson's quirks... Especially his habit of making up new swear words which make me replace crap like "scud" with the proper swears in my head. Also, "scud" in particular always make me think of Scuderia Ferrari. So far reading this is quite a slog.

I have noticed random accounts liking my updates. They all have female names and profile images. Their bios have shortened URLs from cutt.ly or numl.org, which lead to Russian domains and those all redirect to an adult dating site with what looks like an affiliate link, so don't click on them. I report all these accounts as spam and recommend everybody doing the same.

Quite entertaining, but my god some scenes are too long. That scene with Locke and Jean dangling from some ledge was about 20 pages too long. I exaggerate, but it felt like it was that long.

So far a bit disappointed. It's a bit of a slog and I am considering filing it as DNF.

Eschbach's books are difficult. Some I love, Haarteppichknüpfer first and foremost. Others I find, uhm, to be a mixed bag. Especially his characters are often so damn annoying. This is one of those books. We'll see if I make it all the way through.

I realized, that I had missed this year's Jack Reacher release and decided to start right away. So far quite nice, although after so many Reacher books the writing style becomes just a tad annoying.

A more difficult read than I remembered. I had forgotten about that whole thing in England and I am not a fan of it on this second readthrough.

Another fun book from Naomi Novik, where she again evokes Eastern European fairy tales. The book reads indeed like a fairy tale, but from the points-of-view of the characters within it.

I decided to do a re-read of all the Shadowrun books after about 20 or 25 years. This is the first one and so far I'm having a lot of fun.

I am surprised how much they changed in the TV show to make it more exciting.

Difficult to get into. I don't know if it's the book or me.

I will probably not finish my reading challenge this year, but I made it into Pocket's top 1% again this year. I still read a lot, just not that many books. According to Pocket I read over 1.8 million words, plus so much more on /r/HFY. Let's see what next year brings.

It's a nice book, but I'm not really in the mood.

I accidentally started with the second one. Now moving to the first one to get a proper introduction to this world.

Not sure why I am not making any progress with this book. It's sci-fi, it's fast, it's fun.

It's an OK book. I can't say that I care overly for any of the characters, which is usually a death sentence for any book.

Stayed up way too late because I couldn't stop and still couldn't finish! The pain!

It certainly flows better now, although I find myself skipping paragraphs because they add nothing.

This is a re-read. I first read it over twenty years ago when it was published in German. This time I am reading it in English. Either I was more forgiving twenty years ago (likely) or they made the translation more bearable than the original (possible). So far I am having a hard time enjoying the book as much as I remember doing.

What a delightful book!

Finding it a bit difficult to gather the will to go on. It's fun and fast, but so far I am missing a certain depth.
