Obsessed with this story & wishing I could just sit and consume it!

So far, I think this feels like one of the most unique fantasy stories I've read. The writing is captivating and the characters are compelling.

I love that there are so many non-traditional roles and relationships (females with more power than males, a leader High Lady, etc) and a diverse cast set in a historical-like setting.

Aaaand parents leaving a baby and small child with the recently graduated brother who has a roommate they haven't MET, baby proofing his apartment before they leave for a weekend? Do people do this? 🤣 I might be too old with too many kids to buy into this book.... genuinely wondering what editor let all these things slide because it's so distracting

I'm invested already in Leti and Julian. The writing is engaging. It feels light and fun.

But an 8 month old who just learned to walk? It can happen but writers... maybe go with an average? 🫠

We stalled out with our read aloud but I do intend to go back and finish this when life allows.

Yes this is a very slow, bite sized reread via audio. I am absolutely savoring just picking up a few minutes here and there.

5 chapters in & I cannot get my brain out of this story. Kate Clayborn laces these pages with SOMETHING.

Setting this aside to try again. Not sure it's for me.

It's 1am and I'm laughing out loud in my dark bedroom. 84 highlights so far. I don't care if I never sleep. This book is a dream.

I've already highlighted 46 passages. Her descriptions. Her writing. GAH.

As always, listening to the adventures of Emma M. Lion and her motley crew of friends in St. Crispian keeps me happy and content. The narration is delightful and the storytelling is cozy and entertaining. It is the perfect balance to the chaos of the world and life!

We have been super distracted and not doing our routine read aloud. But the kids keep bugging me to read and you know what that means? They love it.

My kids are enjoying this and are curious how it will play out. So far, they have drawn connections & comparisons to the Rick Riordan books and Harry Potter.

Still need to read Role Model and The Long Game. I'm savoring them so will get to them eventually before Unrivaled is out!

Physical book = slow progress. I also fall asleep more quickly when I try to read at bedtime. It's killing me because I am loving this book!

Finally finishing this series... I'm a little confused because I think the timeline overlaps but I will sort it out

This is a quirky read for sure. Fun and cozy, maybe slightly difficult to read when I'm tired (doesn't keep me up).

Gah so good. So many interesting twists and collisions of story threads.

This audio & I am near tears.
