I feel like so far this book is ok. Like a high 2 or low 3. It has been harder to get into because Chapter 1 is literally just picking up right where Book 1 ended. Like, no time jump or scene change. Just the feeling that I am still reading Book 1. And I know each book needs to remind the reader of what happened earlier, but this one does it too much. And the surprise family reveals, too much. Like a telenovela.

So far would say 3/5. I am enjoying it and the author’s voice. But it also isnt giving me anything that is overly new and while I am enjoying the book I can for the most part easily pick it up and put it back down.

Glad I had a solo road trip for work to help get through a solid chunk of this. I feel like I will need to read King Lear and then this to appreciate it more. I am understanding more about who is who and what is going on…but it is still quite laborious to get through this book. Only “reading” it because I like having an audiobook to listen to during chores.

But even then…I feel like retellings are not my thing.

Just found out that this book is based on King Lear and is a retelling….which I have not read 😅 Cuz currently it is sitting at a 1 star just cuz it is a struggle for it to catch my attention, especially since it is written in 3rd person. Like, the writing is beautiful, it is just tough.

It might be better to read this again after I have read King Lear.

The book has gotten more interesting now that there is a count down of days. Like, cool, now I know when the battle will be.

Feel like this will be a 1 star. Too choppy with the changing timelines and perspectives and too much sex.

So far I am liking the concept and that there are different perspectives from characters of different ratings. But Im worried there will be too many perspectives shared for such a short book centred on one location (the opposite of a fantasy with multiple perspectives). Also, it may be too high schooly for me so we shall see.

I feel like this book is never ending 🤣 Still enjoying it but also, just want to know what happens! It’s been 600 pages of building up suspense about the Nameless One and Im afraid we will be left on a cliffhanger for Book 2.

Called it. Only surprised it happened so soon.

I feel like I have a good grasp on the world now so the plotline is easier to follow. I can feel that it is starting to build a little but hasnt thickened much

This is a really WOMEN ARE POWERFUL kind of book, which is a good message, but I feel like at times it is a bit much. Like with Tané it seems to be here whole personality. Ead is a lil more complex.

Like Kit. Golden retriever. I predict he will die.

I feel like im starting to understand the names and places now. It is just a bit to remember, but that is normal in fantasy.

Only 250 more pages to go!!! Haha, it is funny spending so much time reading a book that you get excited when there is only the equivalent of a medium sized book left.
