Matilda is starting Every Day I Read: 53 Ways to Get Closer to Books
Overall interesting and then you get to the essay about how philosophers say reading on a screen isn't reading and you just want to say fuck off. It's such an ableist comment among other things. Oh, you can't hold a book? Guess you're never going to be really reading with that e-reader or phone of yours. Oh, you need to be able to adjust light and font size? No, not reading either, sorry.

Matilda is starting The Goblin Emperor
Found in a little free library; I don't really remember why it was on my radar though, enjoying it so far, but hating the "thou" and royal "we".

Matilda is starting One Salt Sea (October Daye, #5)
You know, I hate it when people say, well you have to wait until volume XYZ for the series to pick up, because, who was the time? But, well, hm, this is what happened here. I've been finding myself really really enjoying that series since the previous volume, like I didn't think I would when I started it.

I finished The ministry of Time against all odds, and this was so terrible? And confusing? And infuriating?
Explaining the book in a coherent fashion fails because any time travelling story is mind bending, but also because this is so needlessly confusing. And the narrator made me so uncomfortable.
And the writing. What was happening there? And on top of metaphors, and never-ending, confusing, nonsensical similes.

Matilda is starting Can't Spell Treason Without Tea (Tomes & Tea, #1)
Finally a book that doesn't make me roll my eyes every two sentences.

Where in the world are these metaphors and similes coming from? There are sentences I truly cannot understand and that leave me quite annoyed and baffled.

Matilda is starting Fourth Wing (The Empyrean, #1)
This is adorable, it's like reading a 2010s YA anticipation novel. Everyone's being weird, wearing leather and having colourful hair, except everyone's also super horny and has to say "fuck" and "shit" every five sentences because it's for adults. Also it's fantasy but we have a lot of "Jacks" and "Joshs" for some reason.

Matilda is starting Zaitoun: Recipes from the Palestinian Kitchen
Okay, I've tried to finish it, at least the narrative part of the book, but I can't, it's making me so angry every time I pick it up. How can you handle a book about Palestinian culture so horridly?

This book is making me so mad. In the introduction the author really wants to make sure you know she has Isreali friends and doesn't want to erase the "Isreali experience", sure, taking care of a colonial and genocidal state is always the first thing to do when you're writing a cookbook about Palestine.

Je m'amuse bien, mais je ne comprends pas pourquoi cela s'appelle "Récits de voyage" quand ce sont des nouvelles de fiction ? o_O

(listening to "Jane Eyre")
St John is such a dick! Jane really dodged a bullet with that one. If only she hadn't returned to someone like Rochester afterwards.
