i need to read a great book without a character w intense family trauma for my own sanity. do those exist?

my spidey senses were tingling and, lo and behold we have another co-author project.

there are two things i'll never tire of

1. And Then There Were None variants
2. books about authors

this book has me laughing, crying, scribbling notes, and mumbling to myself. i'm so glad none of you can see me rn lol

every single chapter is making me cry! this is so perfect.

their relationship is beautifully woven into this story. i love that the connection feels so deeply important to the narrative without ever becoming the point of it. expertly balanced!

HOLY SHIT THIS IS SO PAINFUL WAIT!!!!! "because they deserved it" is such cold and crazy work. i'm actually devastated fml

absolutely floored by chapter 8! ab to cry on this treadmill 😪

this is a world full of immortal beings with near god-like power.... why the hell would they need to summon demons from another dimension to defeat a human rebellion????? this actually makes zero sense.

UGH why does sjm make all of her main characters solve problems and plan things off page?!?! its actually an infuriating writing choice. Bryce is literally Aelin's twin sister asf. i'm annoyed.

this is so stupid 😭

1. All of Ruhn's chapters read as if SJM is being forced to include them. So far he has been nothing but a great character introduction followed by a bunch of needless nonsense. I'm beyond disappointed lol.

2. This book feels like SJM ripping off her own books??? We are all up in Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire's nachos rn.

3. I hate mysteries where every character sucks at solving mysteries. Everybody is pmo.
