I just finished “Goodbye, my brother”. Not only is it riveting, it is deeply moving. The story deals with a summer family reunion at the cottage. One brother, an abstinent lawyer, attempts to put a damper on everything. Cheever makes his presence at once looming and pathetic. The story made me reflect on the instances where I have been a bit of a sad-sack pessimist. I’m looking to the good where I can.

Immensely impressed with this book so far. The perceptiveness of the unnamed author on a wide array of topics, esp. human experience, is so penetrating and awe inspiring. This is peak reading chat

Man this Wordsworth translation is so evidently terrible. All apostrophes are replaced with quotation marks and there are superfluous commas abound.
