Wow..this book is way better than I thought...Sel and Bree though...poor things!

This particular part on p.226 though, reminds of a line in Crazy Rich Asians where the mother says, "Family is more important than love"- apparently this is somewhat ties to culture.

Such a sweeping mystery! Full of poetic moments and scenery! I even like the murder mystery going on in this one and the romance between Lady Bai and Gao is super sweet and endearing.

So far, I love that the MC loves books😀

I feel as if this book is our permission letter. Gilbert is telling us creatives: "Here. enjoy your art. Enjoy your life. Live it as best you can and hear your inspiration as a parent hears the cries of a child."

I'm listening to the audible and reading the ebook. things are already heating up. The first chapter opens up with the character losing someone close to her and I believe it is the description that rips a hole in my chest more than anything.

Such a complex history that I may have to take further notes and re-read to understand...

It seems everything happens in a circle. On this page, I am realizing that those who loved the Speerly women, ended up terrifying them, harming them, but in the end declared their love for them. Is this Rin and Nezha's fate?

Whoa! This one gets a bit hot and heavy. More political...

What a thrill ride! It is very grim, this one. There are even more darker themes explored in this trilogy-- more than I can imagine. Rin makes me want to slap her sometimes and then other times I praise hr. Plus, SPOILER! A lover's spat???

I am just glad a certain someone has returned😏

This is by far the best fantasy I have read in ages! I cannot stop reading it, even while at work! It is definitely a much darker-themed book and does not shy away from the realities or fighting in a war. A great, written piece!

So far, I feel this book is speaking to me. I am in my 40s and I feel there is so much I could have done but did not do after high school.

I will say this. The talk of robots between the pages is fascinating to me. It is suspenseful and I love how it's a mystery of sorts. the time period difference is what makes this stunning to me.

This story is so cultural and nostalgic all at once. The main character is experience new love at a young age but her mother appears to be a tyrant and over-religious. Does her mom have a point though? The main character's dad and brother seem like ghosts though...

Just returned back to the world of robots. I am loving this one so far because it is a mystery but it takes place in a different time period. Kind of futuristic and kind of historic.

Very good writing so far with nostalgic high school moments. Some of it different from my own culture but definitely the feelings and events are oddly similar.

The beginning is a mysterious start...a slow one...but mysterious.

Erica's mother should have been pouring over instead of waiting years later. The fact of the matter is I think it is emotional baggage Erica is carrying and that si toxic.

So far, Erica's husband is a douche bag to the third power. But she had to have some inkling that he did not want that life...*eyeroll*

Really says her body wants Chihiro...she may eat him😶

Water is very significant in these novels...
