Just started "Distance and Dragons". I'm literally on page 1, and the story is already moving pretty fast. We've gone from "OMG A DRAGON!" to "Nah, it's just a cloud." to "I forgot sugar in my coffee" to "I returned back to the Inn." in one paragraph.

Also, Khazak using a contraction on page 1? (Wasn't) is either a mistake in the writing or Khazak is using them more and more by simply being around David. No idea.

Slowly, but surely, I'll get through this book. One story at a time 😊 What these men learned on the fly must have been so daunting, especially under enemy fire.

I know I'm not very far 😅 but I hope to chisel away at this book little by little. The stories are fascinating and exciting and I want to keep reading. I will say, I need to have Google open so I can look up the acronyms (UNREP OOD, CIC, etc.)

I don't mind a book written in 1st person POV. What my brain doesn't like is reading the word "just" again and again. It's easy to overuse. This book definitely has that

So far, we are plopped into the story, and we hit the ground running. I'm enjoying Peter's character. He's very kind and giving, which is something Ashen is wonderful at writing.

I am noticing some inconsistencies with content, however. Such as, in ch. 1, the horses are named Abby and Kino, but in ch. 2 they are now *Bess* and Kino 🤔 Also, where is Coleman's Bakery (#5) on the 2nd map?
