8.5 hours left and 2 days before my library loan is due! Gotta finish

It's a little slow right now. I prefer details of character, religion, society, and culture

I was intimidated but it's pretty readable and I may one day finish it

So far, I'm way more invested than Golden Son but I'm wondering how many times Darrow can wake up after receiving medical attention

It feels like I'm reading an introvert's interior life. Lacking plot but the author manages to write musings that do not seem self-aware. I can believe that I'm silently viewing the world through the characters' eyes. A quiet novel

Compared to a lot of other modern/gentle parenting books, this gives rather different advice

Don't play with your kids, don't buy your kids toys even the educational/Montessori type, don't do kid activities or anything that is specifically "child-centered"

Don't correct your kids on chores or try to train them to do chores. They will naturally desire to improve
"We"- A sense of the collective is really important

Skimmed first chapter on gentle parenting
Second chapter on rhythms: how to prioritize what matters to you as a parent in an established pattern of doing life
"what does a beautiful childhood look like to you?"

I think I'm going to stop while I'm ahead... Tired of reading 20th century award winning books featuring terrible, unlikable people and little plot
