The first time I read this, I hadn’t seen the Starz tv series. This time I’ve watched season one, which is all that’s been available to me to watch on the streaming platforms I have and I was pleased to hear the actors reprising their roles in the audio and shocked to find that season one is basically over about a quarter of the way into the novel!

This line literally stopped me in my tracks and forced me to catch my breath!


“Demand better than to be worshipped by a crumb!”

May be all have such self-regard that we can follow this advice. May we all do the work to be more than crumbs of ourselves.

There was only one of her, so she disappointed herself, instead. She said “I do” when her insides said “I don’t”. And then she spent the next decade trying not to know what she knew.
