I really hoped I would enjoy Shallan’s chapters more this time around, but unfortunately I still don’t really like them. I spend the entire time wishing I was reading one of Kaladin’s or Dalinar’s…..

This really is one of the best examples of a first books in a series. I think it is genuinely brilliant at introducing its characters, complex world, history, religions, and ‘magic’ in a way that doesn’t feel like an expository dump, but actually feels natural. Sanderson deserves all the accolades he gets for this book !!

part of me forgot just how much I adore Kaladin in the five long years it’s been since I first read this series. he is just such a wonderful character
