I feel like I've already read this, but I know I haven't because it came out last week, and I dont read ARCs. It's a big old mess and so convoluted but also familiar enough that I'm getting the strongest deja vous of my life.

These 1-3 page chapters are really jarring. It's hard to really feel like you have a grasp on characterization and setting because none of them delve deep. It's all surface.

FEELINGS!!! This book is giving me all the feelings, and I swore off feelings years ago.

I live for this book. It's like Dead Like Me meets The Good Place meets something I can't quite put my finger on yet.

I'm taking so long to read this because I want to savor it. I don't just want to rush to the end, like I do with most books.

The fact the author thinks how these characters act is appropriate is really telling. I won't be reading anything else by them.

She's so fucking condescending and selfish but claims she's so selfless. The whole story should've been a freaking conversation seven years prior. There is not reason for this story to exist. Don't recommend at all.

So far... I like the movie on Netflix better. It has a much better tone than this one. The book makes Enola sound so dumb. Not just naive, but dumb.

I am loving the story and quips, but this POV switching is getting annoying.

This book is nothing like the movie. There are bits and pieces of similar actions or snippets of conversation, but the main story is so different.

I'm really enjoying this book, although my mind automatically compares it to the movie. It's different yet so good.

This book should have started on page 100, and the next 147 pages should have only taken half that.

I have problems with this. I am almost 50% through and there are only 3 chapters in Shelly's perspective. All 3 were meetings with her therapist. Nothing about life, nothing about Beau.

Weak writing.

You can tell Reid was phoning in her character because she wanted someone with a disorder. Coming from somebody with Obsessive Compulsive tendencies and issues, Shelly doesn't feel researched or true to the disorder.

This one feels different, wrong kind of. Her other books switch perspectives ever 1-2 chapters, but this one doesn't. Out of the first 16 chapters, only THREE were written from Shelly's perspective. Maybe she was rushed, but it didn't feel like Penny developed her character enough or something. It's disappointing because I had such high hopes for this book.
