the affection i hold for alizayd al qahtani makes me want to shred every passing page of his pov with my teeth like some sort of motherly woodchipper. you peel him away and there’s a repressed man inside, you peel that man away and there’s another repressed man, he’s just like this russian doll of repression. add the idealism and yearning and it's like the fictional equivalent of crack to me.

Apoorva is on page 194 of 376 of Martin the Warrior (Redwall, #6)
Didn't expect Martin to be such a smart-ass in this book?? How is he so funny??? This isn't the Martin we know from Mossflower and I'm itching to find out what the hell happens between now and then. That one part where he dreams about living in Noonvale someday with Rose and Grumm 😭 just what are we in for omg

My REAL reason for reading Redwall was so I could ease myself into my actual favourite book in the series, the one that took over my brain and my heart when I was 12, my darling, my baby, the perfect Mossflower. I could’ve lived with it if my reread of Redwall had disappointed me, but if MOSSFLOWER does now, it would break my heart. Counting on you to not let me down bb <3

Reading challenge for Feb said book with non-human characters so here's my chance to go back to basics. My opinion of this book is so colored by the first time I read it (over a decade ago) and I'm curious to see how differently I'll feel about it now :')

I can't stand this man's writing. Every word is so carefully chosen; he holds nothing back. Break my heart I guess 🥴

Why the hell do I always find myself unwittingly getting into romantic tragedies? This business with Nicolas makes me want to sink into the ground. Him now resenting what he used to love and need in Lestat is too raw for me to handle. Granted I'm only at the halfway point but something tells me I'm in for a downhill ride.

I AM TURNING INTO A LESTAT APOLOGIST?? I really like how he starts off believing in God and the 'goodness' of humankind and then gets turned into a creature whose very existence depends on cruelty and apathy. And the fact that he revels in it!! The existential conflict this stirs comes out in small quiet moments and I love that. 'I think I was offended by death unless I was the cause of it' boy shut up lmao

[end of part 3] This is officially the coolest and most unhinged sci-fi I've ever read. Damn good shit, kinda don't want to know how it ends.

This book is... too slow for me lmao. Gonna coup d'œil the rest; fancy descriptions of the circus captured my interest for perhaps the first 100 pages before I got so goddamn tired of it all. A book with such a fantastic premise and great writing has no business being this boring!!! ugh
