Very beautiful and uplifting, yet very sad, dark, and horrific at times.

Very informative, written with great scientific detail of the biological and chemical effects on a cadaver. The history of man’s exploration of human anatomy is also fascinating. The author, Mary Roach, has an enjoyable dry sense of humor which is a great counter to the grim and grisly details of her research.

This is not the original publication, but a recent release with about 500 more pages. So far, even better that the 1990 edition!
