It took me three days but I finally finished Tentative de description d’un dîner de têtes and now I am mal à la tête.
(Disclaimer: I know that it’s j’ai not je suis, but "I have mal à la tête" makes me sound like I have a venereal disease.)

I’m only on page 9 and my brain hurts. Pardon my French but it is merde.

Just finished the first story. Kind of confused about the premise but entertaining enough to read in the morning along whilst eating breakfast.

I agree with the description that Rilke is one of the most “lyrically intense” poets but I just don’t think I’m in a contemplating death mood. Also, since I can’t German, I find some of the phrasing kind of awkward which maybe makes it less lyrical?

Kind of a bit too angsty for me, especially the first few poems. Though the title of the chapter is “wilting” and I’m told it gets better. So far, I would probably reread “what love looks like” and maybe “questions”.

Style of poetry reminiscent of Williams Carlos Williams. Was not that into the first half which kind of felt like the poetic equivalent of Courbet. Would reread the chapter on politics, specifically “Hollow Eyes, Bellies, Hearts” and “A Battle Prayer”.
