Im so confused by this book. Is it romance? Dark romance? Psychological thriller? Ghost story? All of the above? I dont know built its making me laugh and it has my attention enough that it will be a single day read.

As Steven Walker said in his video update on his progress through the book....its like Lights Out is on Disney Plus and this one is on HBO.

It's still quite funny. But its significantly smuttier.

Ive already been laughing. This one is definitely smuttier than the 1st.

You know a series is well written when you are full of anger for what is happening and hate for a character but you are only in the prologue.

Decided I was in the mood for a reread of this series!

It's been a long time since I read the 1st 4. I was kind of over it i guess. Trying to get some of my tbr read and I'm 1 chapter in and thinking about dnf'ing.

Kristin Hannah never fails to make me cry. I am currently thinking about how impossible the fmc choice is and how i don't think I could handle it.

I'm giving into this reluctantly. Wasn't in love with the 1st 2 I read but everyone says it gets better....

The word assassin is already annoying me and it's only 1 chapter in. I hope this and future books can describe the characters with words other than assassin (since I get it, I know who the assassins are).

I'm enjoying it so far. Love that the fmc is an adult and not 18 or 19. I love that she isn't surprised to find out who she is and grows up knowing who she is and how she came to be there. I also like that she is strong on her own. So many fmc's need the mmc to become strong. And I always enjoy it when the love story begins with a stabby fmc.

3 chapters of 5 in....and nothing has happened but shopping.

So far, this feels like great value Harry Potter. And it's a bit cringey (maybe not the right word) but Faebook? Sounds like something a kid would use in their writing. And also it's weird to me that the author just took every mythological creature and made it an order. So instead of 1 Medusa, there is an order of Medusa Fae?

Hope this gets better or maybe it will become a DNF.

Another weird Tamlin personality change. In the 1st book he loves and protects his people. But now he's heartless when it comes to the tithe? This isn't a believable transition to me.

Tamlin's complete personality change just doesn't make sense to me. He was so in love with her, supposedly. I get the explanations for him being so controlling and locking her away. We also saw some of that control in the 1st book. But he suddenly ignores her except in bed. He doesn't notice her depression or that she's fading? I feel like this needed to be developed better so it makes more sense.

Chapter 22/33 and I'm positive I know the twist. Lots of unanswered questions and only 11 short chapters to get the answers.

Mal is so annoying in this book. He cares about nothing but himself and getting Alina to himself. There alre no redeeming qualities about him. He doesn't care about all of the Ravkan people dying as long as he can have Alina. He throws toddler tantrums constantly. Hate him.

Will Alina do anything, ever? I got some book left but so far she's mostly in her rooms throwing herself a pity party.
