For me, the most interesting parts of this book are the part in Nigeria not the American part of it.

I think this book was probably saying something new when it was first published, but now it doesn’t feel particularly original or unique. I’m also quite familiar with the experience it describes, so the social commentary doesn’t land as strongly for me because I already understand it. That said, it’s still a good story, even if the writing can feel a bit odd at times.
