Liliana just found out that her parents are undocumented and that her father has been deported. One mystery solved led to a whole group of other questions. I wonder how this specific story line is going to evolve as we go through the book.

I have heard lots of good things about this book, and so I am interested to see where it goes. It has not yet grabbed me very strongly and so I hope that as I continue reading the interest level increases. It does have a lot of interesting topics in this book already, and so I'm sure they will continue to develop into a striking story.

I'm beginning to understand the plot more. The author spent a while introducing the story before delving into the main point of the story. I'm starting to really like the way the author has structured the book, with enough excitment and difficulties to keep it engaging, along with historical details.

I'm confused on how this story is going to play out. While the historical context and the main characters thoughts are interesting, the story is not the most clear at the moment.

I love how this book switches from the present to the past to give more context. It doesn't give all the context at once though and leaves you wondering what has happened in the past that messed everything up. It forces me to read the chapter titles (which I usually skip over). Overall, I am really enjoying this book so far.

Although not as intense as the first part, this story continues to deal with issues of racism and sexism. However I find it beautiful that the way Cussy Mary can break down the barriers set up by the color of her skin is through books and reading.

The beginning of this book is very intense, starting out with a hanging and farily quickly moving on to rape and intense sexism. However, I think the way it is written so far is extremely powerful, and I find the relief she finds in books and helping others to be beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing how this story progresses.

Although this book is slightly hard to read, it is still extremely interesting. I am now getting to the practical aspect of the book where the author is explaining HOW to be present in dreams. All of this is fascinating, but I'm not sure if I will be able to apply it to my life, however I will try.

Although some of the concepts in this book are difficult to wrap my mind around, they are fascinating. I never knew very much about lucid dreaming or any sort of dreams so it is interesting to read about it. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the book.

I'm already captivated by this story. It's very easy to relate with Charlie, as she speaks about body image. Even just in this beginning part of the book, I think she adressed a lot of ideas that many teenagers often go through or thing of. I'm looking forward to how the story will evolve.

I decided to take a break from Anne of Avonlea, since I haven't been feeling very grabbed by it recently. Instead I started this book which even though only 30 pages in, already has grabbed me and left me wanting more. It is so refreshing to find a book with a new enough story to keep you interested! The alternate reality is written well and makes sense in the context of the story.

There was a specific passage today that stood out to me and that I'd like to share: "I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string." -Anne p.160

I think it is interesting to see how social standards have differentiated from the time this book was written and now. A lot of the things that happen or are said even by the "good" characters are not things that would be acceptable now. However, you have to think whether you should analyze the writing with our modern perspective or just enjoy the story with the perspective that this was acceptable at the time.

I love the way Anne's character thinks of things. On page 110, she describes a stream as a poem, describing "the real poem" as "the soul within them". I think this is an incredibly beautiful sentiment. I also like how Anne's character has developed in this book, especially in terms of what she values. In previous books, she really didn't like her hair, but now, she doesn't find it an important concern.

I'm struck by how much Anne has changed and matured from the first book to this second book. Of course a lot of Anne is and will always stay the same, however she truly does seem like an adult even though only 16. It's interesting how much more quickly people grew up back then, or at least were forced to grow up, since she's already teaching at 16.

At this point, Anne has been going around asking for "subscriptions" (donations) for her Improvement Society as well as trying to tame the twin Davy. I'm curious how this book is going to be similar or different from 'Anne of Green Gables'. When I read the previous book, I was already fairly familiar with the story so I just focused on the writing, but for this book, I am not sure how the story is going to unfold.

My goodness this book is an emotional roller coaster. I have not been able to put it down. It is extremely refreshing to read a book with such diversity and where the LGBTQIA+ community is widely represented. Casey McQuinston writes wonderfully. The book is slow paced enough that it doesn't feel rushed and you can slowly enjoy the wonderful romance, but also doesn't feel like it is too slow and not going anywhere.

My views on this book haven't really changed as I continue reading it, it isn't the most engaging book but is a cute story. I am often confused by the characters and who is narrating when because it goes back and forth with many different characters. I can't keep track of them which makes it harder to understand the story as well.

At this point in the book, I am most intrigued with the different perspectives from each animal and person. It't interesting to see how the author, Jane Smiley, interprets different things dogs, horses, crows, and humans do. It isn't necessarily the way I would have percieved some of these animals which adds to my interest in the book.

I'm happy to say the story is getting more interesting! Although not necessarily full of cliffhangers or exciting events, the storyline is sweet and calming. I think this is a good book to read if you just want to relax and not have to think about much.

Although I am almost to Chapter Eight, I am yet to get any clues as to how the storyline will evolve. Up to the point I am at now, there have mostly been introductions to each character, but nothing about the actual story. I am very curious to see how the story will evolve from this farily slow paced beginning.
