I haven't updated my progress at all because it's been slow. Frankly this book has been pissing me off

Fascinating that I've now picked up two books with the exact same plot and premise but this one is done so much better! what a concept!

Something doesn't sit right with me that our main character - who is racist, misogynist, a genocide apologist, a "white savior" to Thomil's "noble savage", and weaponizes religion to justify said genocide and discrimination, albeit brainwashed and misguided - is having a massive mental breakdown a la white woman tears to the point they're considering a lobotomy.

Sciona just said she wishes she could be a "soft and pious woman" when her religion and founding prinicples are challenged yet she's spent up until now trying to be a feminist girlboss.

I would say "close enough, welcome back Babel" except this is a very poor derivative and instead just perpetuates everything bad Babel was commenting on. Like it's actually kind of sad and I'm uncomfortable.

Sciona is deeply racist and problematic and I don't think at any point I can root for her ever.
