So far, a new principal has come that the FMC knows from her past. It’s clear that he suffered a school tragedy that made him swing too far to the spectrum of prison warden in favor of school security.
What keeps pulling me out of the story is 1) where are the parents?! I teach at a private school. Ain’t now way parents would silently stand by as all this happened. And 2) why hasn’t she googled him yet?!

I have never been more insulted by a main character 😂 she keeps talking about how fat she is, at 175 pounds and is too old to wear jeans. She’s 39.

At this point in the book, I should be falling for the characters while being frustrated at their blindness. There should be excitement, anticipation. But there’s nothing. There is not a single likable thing about the MC, nothing endearing about the FMC. There too much dialogue, too much exposition in the dialogue. I don’t need to know every muscle twitch or movement they make. Move it along!

Switching to audio or I will never finish this book

I’m really don’t like this book, but I want it to get better. I hope it gets better…

I always struggle with journal style books because abuse they are written like normal narratives just with some occasional references that it’s really a journal. Maybe I just haven’t read enough diaries for this to be believable, but it always pulls me out of the story.

I really need this to be an easy, suck you in kinda story. So far, it’s a Wikipedia page for the Caribbean…

•1st pov from fmc, but told like it’s all in her past and she’s telling a memory. Which would be fine, except all the detail and description make that hard to believe.
•NO QUOTATION MARKS why?! What is the point?! I think it has something to do with the narration style, which I hate. I hated it in Berry Pickers too
