this book is incredible, i don’t know what else i expected from hazelwood. she’s always fucking fantastic at pulling my heartstrings

idk why but i just don’t like connell or at least the way he treats marianne. it’s just off putting for me, like marianne is always there for him. also he made it seem like her fault that they broke up or whatever the year that he went back home for a summer when he just straight up did not communicate that he wanted to stay with her. he just expected her to know that he wanted her to ask. wtf

connell fumbled the bag once again…
and i kind of enjoy the no quotation marks thing now. i like how seamlessly the present flows into the past. it’s so well written that i completely forget that i was in a completely different scene until it’s brought back. the book flows very well and even though connell makes me frustrated, i enjoy reading it. i’m a sucker for drama and romance tho

lorraine deserves the world, i love her. besides that, connell got what he deserved. i think what really got me is when he finally realized that no one really cared if he and marianne were together and that all his effort to keep their relationship a secret was utterly worthless. he hurt marianne and for what? absolutely nothing.
i think i’m getting agitated about this because i see parallels and it hurts.

the lack of quotation marks is really throwing me off but besides that i love the teenage unrequited love thing going on
