Using for my thesis! Very interesting to read it through the queer lense and how he uses vampirism to portray female homosexuality and how ”dangerous” a woman with sexual freedom could be to the Victorian man. He really tried to be homophobic but failed miserably as it is seen as an important sapphic romance!

Interesting to read about the gender crisis of the fin-de-siecle! Especially interesting was reading about how men were so scared of the New Woman and suffragettes, that they blamed women for the ”fall of the Western world” and thus compared them to animals & bestiality in art & literature

Im in shambles. Sobbing over my kindle for the last pages. Beautifully, intricate, complex human love and emotion so vulnerably poured out in words. A gut punch. Never read anything like this before.
